Dear friends, As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, we find ourselves at a crossroads. Moments like these invite us to reflect not only on where we have been, but also on who we are becoming. For Latino communities across the country, immigration is not simply a political issue—it is a human issue. It is about families, faith, belonging, and the promise that every person is created in the image of God. The story of immigration is woven into the story of America itself. It has shaped our communities, strengthened our churches, and enriched our nation. A healthy democracy depends on the belief that every person matters. When immigrant families flourish, our communities flourish. When their voices are heard, our democracy is strengthened. This month, I invite you to join us for Lament and Hope, a gathering that will create space to acknowledge pain, celebrate the contributions of immigrants, and reaffirm our commitment to building communities rooted in justice, compassion, and hope. Lament and Hope will create space to acknowledge the challenges and pain experienced by many immigrant families while celebrating the countless contributions immigrants have made to our churches, communities, and nation. Developed through the work of the Antioquía Center at AETH, this resource offers a thoughtful, non-partisan perspective on Latino civic engagement in the United States. It examines the complexity and diversity of the Latino vote while helping churches and leaders better understand the communities they serve. This resource is especially valuable for pastors, educators, and ministry leaders seeking to engage public life with wisdom, discernment, and pastoral sensitivity.
