Dear LCNN Family,

As Hispanic Heritage Month draws to a close on October 15, I give thanks to God for the gift of our people. For a month, our nation has paused to recognize what we have always known: that Latino and Hispanic communities are woven deeply into the story of this country. We are pastors, teachers and entrepreneurs, nurses and soldiers, mothers and fathers.

But heritage is not only something we celebrate; the generations before us sacrificed so that we could have a seat at the table and a voice in the public square. This fall, that voice has a very concrete expression: on Tuesday, November 3, our nation will hold its midterm elections.

Midterm elections often receive less attention than presidential ones, yet the leaders chosen this November in Congress, in our statehouses, on our school boards and city councils, will make decisions that shape the daily lives of our families: how our children are educated, how immigrant neighbors are treated, how the poor and the vulnerable are cared for.

The prophet Jeremiah told God’s people in exile to “seek the welfare of the city … and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare” (Jeremiah 29:7). Voting is one of the ways we seek the welfare of our cities.

We do ask you to vote, prayerfully and informed, and to help others do the same. Check your registration today. Make a plan and let the witness of our community be seen not only in our worship on Sunday, but in our faithful participation on Election Day.

Your Voice Matters

Help Center Latino Immigrant Experiences in Research

LCNN is helping share an important research opportunity focused on the experiences, perspectives, and future plans of Latino and Hispanic immigrants living in the United States.

Dr. Fredi García-Alverdín, a Postdoctoral Researcher at Universidad Autónoma de Baja California in Tijuana, Mexico, is conducting a study designed to better understand the experiences of Latino/Hispanic immigrant communities.

This research is also personal for Dr. García-Alverdín, who previously lived in the United States as an undocumented immigrant. His own experience has shaped his commitment to research that centers the voices and lived experiences of immigrant communities.

Who Can Participate?
Participants must:

• Be 18 years of age or older

• Be a Latino/Hispanic immigrant

• Currently live in the United States

• Participate voluntarily

• Complete an online survey

Participation is open regardless of immigration status and is completely voluntary and confidential.

Every response matters. By participating, Latino and Hispanic immigrants can help ensure their experiences and perspectives are represented in research concerning immigration, return migration, and public policy.

Help Us Spread the Word
Pastors, churches, ministries, and community organizations can also help by sharing this opportunity through newsletters, social media, WhatsApp groups, email lists, and community newsletter.

Faithful Participation in the 2026 Election Season

Election season is approaching, and LCNN wants our churches and communities to be equipped to participate thoughtfully, prayerfully, and responsibly.

Civic engagement is about more than what happens on Election Day. It includes learning about the issues affecting our communities, listening to our neighbors, understanding the choices before us, and considering how our faith informs the way we participate in public life.

LCNN has two voting guides available on our website to help individuals, pastors, and congregations prepare for this election season.

These resources are designed to help our communities engage with greater understanding and confidence while creating space for people to prayerfully make their own decisions.

We are gathering again! Save the date now.

Mark your calendars and prepare to join Latino Christian leaders from across the country in Houston, Texas, March 7–10, 2027, for our next LCNN Gathering.

Our gatherings are an opportunity to strengthen relationships, worship together, learn from one another, engage in meaningful conversations, and discern how God is calling us to respond to the challenges and opportunities facing our churches and communities.

Walking Alongside Our Haitian Brothers & Sisters

Rev. Efraín Pineda represented LCNN in Springfield, Ohio, where more than 50 pastors and community leaders came together for a powerful service and a joyful time of fellowship. He offered words of encouragement, prayed with those gathered, and took time to listen to the concerns of our Haitian brothers and sisters. Their voices and their faith remind us that the body of Christ crosses every border and every language.

Pastor Sócrates Pérez gave an uplifting message that left everyone encouraged and renewed in hope.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who welcomed us. Visits like this are at the heart of our mission: to show up, listen well, and walk alongside our communities in faith and solidarity.

Nourished by God's Grace

As Hispanic Heritage Month continues through October 15, there is still time to journey through Nourished by God's Grace: Hispanic Heritage Month 2026, a special devotional resource created in partnership with Bread for the World.

Featuring reflections and prayers from diverse Christian leaders and clergy, this bilingual resource celebrates the faith, experiences, and contributions of Latino and Hispanic communities while engaging important issues facing our communities today.

Each week includes Scripture, reflection, and prayer that can be used for personal devotion, small groups, ministry gatherings, or congregational settings.

If you have not yet downloaded the devotional, we invite you to join us for these final weeks of Hispanic Heritage Month as we continue to reflect on our heritage, deepen our faith, and listen for God's call to our communities.

The Right to Vote and Our Christian Civic Responsibility

As election season approaches, LCNN invites pastors, ministry leaders, and members of our network to join us for a timely conversation on the right to vote and our Christian civic responsibility.

Together, we will reflect on how people of faith can approach civic participation with wisdom, responsibility, and a commitment to the dignity and well-being of our communities.

Our featured speakers will include Rubén Ortiz, Coordinator of Latino Ministries with Cooperative Baptist Fellowship; Rev. Jack Miranda, Director of the Center for Hispanic Leadership; and Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño, retired bishop of The United Methodist Church.
