A Word from Our President
Dear LCNN Family, As we enter September, we find ourselves in a season filled with both celebration and responsibility. Hispanic Heritage Month gives us an opportunity to honor the faith, sacrifice, resilience, leadership, and contributions of Latino and Hispanic communities throughout the United States. We celebrate those who came before us, those who are serving faithfully today, and the generations that will continue shaping the Church and our communities in the years ahead. But our heritage also reminds us that we are participants in an unfolding story. The decisions being made in our communities and throughout our nation affect our families, churches, immigrants, children, and neighbors. As followers of Jesus, our response cannot be indifference. Our faith calls us to love our neighbors, defend human dignity, seek justice, remain informed, and take action for those in our communities. Celebrate our heritage. Pray for our communities. Prepare to vote. Learn about the issues affecting your neighbors. Create spaces for thoughtful conversations in your congregations. And continue building relationships across the Church that allow us to serve together. May we continue walking together as a network committed to strengthening the Latino Church and serving the common good.

Hispanic Heritage MonthCelebrating Our Heritage. Reflecting on Our Faith. From September 15 through October 15, Hispanic Heritage Month invites us to honor the history, culture, faith, and contributions of Latino and Hispanic communities across the United States. For LCNN, this season is also a time to recognize the richness within our communities, from the diversity of our nations and traditions to the resilience, hospitality, and deep faith that have shaped generations. These values continue to strengthen our churches, enrich our communities, and guide the way we respond to the needs of our neighbors today. Nourished by God's GraceThis year, LCNN is honored to partner with Bread for the World to produce a special resource: Nourished by God's Grace: Hispanic Heritage Month 2026 Together, LCNN and Bread for the World have invited diverse Christian leaders and clergy from various traditions to offer reflections and prayers that honor the contributions of Latino and Hispanic communities while engaging some of today's most pressing challenges through the lens of faith. The devotional will include weekly Scripture readings, reflections, and prayers designed for personal devotion, small groups, ministry gatherings, or congregational use throughout Hispanic Heritage Month. All reflections and prayers will be available in both English and Spanish. We invite you and your congregation to journey with us from September 15 through October 15 as we celebrate our heritage, deepen our faith, and reflect together on God's call to our communities.

Spanish-Language Contemplative Prayer Returns September 30As we respond to the many needs facing our local and global communities, we also recognize our need to slow down, pray, and remain rooted in God's presence. Beginning Wednesday, September 30 at 6:30 PM ET, the weekly Spanish-language Meditative and Contemplative Prayer gathering will return. Following the positive response to last year's gatherings, this prayer space will continue weekly throughout the year, with the exception of holidays. Throughout the year, participants will explore different forms of contemplative prayer, including: Meditative prayer using the Incarnational Method of Prayer Visio Divina during Advent, praying and reflecting through visual art Lectio Divina during Lent, engaging Scripture slowly and prayerfully
This gathering offers an opportunity to step away from the demands of the week and join others in a shared rhythm of prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal. We encourage Spanish-speaking pastors, leaders, congregations, and members of our network to participate and share this opportunity.

Our Faith. Our Voice. Our Vote.
Voting is one of the important ways we participate in the civic life of our communities. For LCNN, civic engagement is not about telling people who to vote for. It is about helping our communities become informed, understand their rights, participate confidently, and recognize the responsibility we share in shaping the future of our nation. As the 2026 midterm elections approach, we encourage every eligible voter in our network to prepare. Take time to: Confirm your voter registration Know the voting deadlines and requirements in your state Understand where and how you can vote Learn about the candidates and issues appearing on your ballot Help members of your congregation access trustworthy election information
To support our network, LCNN has developed a Voting Guide with information and resources to help individuals and congregations prepare.

Get out to vote! Beginning September 3 and continuing on Thursdays through October 15, virtual workshops will equip participants with practical tools to navigate the 2026 midterm elections. Sessions will cover voting rights, voter engagement, threats to democracy, and the role of faith leaders as poll chaplains, offering practical ways to prepare and participate. All sessions will be held via Zoom.

Faith & Justice Around the Table
Pastors Gather for ConversationOn August 25, pastors and faith leaders came together for LCNN's Faith & Justice Pastors Roundtable. At LCNN, we believe meaningful work often begins around the table. This gathering gave pastors space to listen, share what they are seeing in their congregations, and engage honestly with the challenges facing their communities. Strong networks are built on trust, shared learning, and a willingness to serve alongside one another. We are grateful to every pastor and leader who participated, and we remain committed to creating spaces that strengthen relationships and encourage faithful Christian leadership in this moment.
